About the Exhibition

Art in Dongsan presents 4 Artists, 4 Perspectives, a group exhibition featuring Baek Young Ran · Yoon Seok Sun · Lee Eun · Hwang Chun Gum at Jageun Art Museum.

The exhibition brings together four artists who approach life through distinct visual languages and perspectives. From happiness found in everyday life and the search for balance within relationships to love and hope embodied in flowers and nature, and the passage of time and cycles of life, each artist reflects on the experiences we encounter as we move through life.

Baek Young Ran explores time and the cycle of life through the rough texture of dakji, ink lines, and empty space. The textured dakji represents the passage of many years, while the ink lines carry traces of time. Repeated infinity-like forms symbolize birth, disappearance, and the cycle of life, with each brushstroke leading toward another beginning.

Yoon Seok Sun uses the movement of a seesaw as a metaphor for relationships and balance in life. Through simple and playful imagery, the artist depicts individuals carrying different weights, shifting their positions, considering one another’s burdens, and continually seeking balance. In this process, instability is not something to avoid, but a moment of recognizing and adjusting what weighs upon us.

Lee Eun finds love, passion, hope, and happiness in everyday landscapes and memories of fields, mountains, rivers, flowers, and coffee. Through abundant floral and natural imagery, her works convey love, dreams, and hope, reflecting the resilience of life that rises again even after being exhausted or fallen.

Hwang Chun Gum’s The Wonderful Life series conveys the idea that happiness is not something distant but can be found within ordinary life. Reimagining the past, present, and future, she creates warm, storybook-like images that express her wish for people to love one another and live with happiness.

Rather than bringing the four artists together under a single theme, 4 Artists, 4 Perspectives focuses on the contrasts and harmonies created when four distinctive perspectives meet within one space. The exhibition invites visitors to encounter each artist’s world and reflect on their own experiences of life, happiness, relationships, and existence.
